Beliefs That Guide Kate’s Life and Sessions
The body is the keeper of wisdom & healing is always possible if you keep your mind and heart open.
There is wisdom in all feelings, behaviors and experiences if we approach them with curiosity and compassion.
You are the expert of your own life and you have the power to heal yourself.
Our deepest wounds can serve as pathways of initiation to a more meaningful relationship with ourselves and all of life.
Peoples pain and trauma is exasperated by toxic culture and a society that is not trauma informed. Our society operates from a deficiency model which frequently pathologizes individuals for having a normal reaction to unhealthy circumstances. Kate does not subscribe to the pathologization model of “mental health” and believes that a key factor in healing is the emancipation of the individual from these harmful societal and cultural narratives.
We must see each individual in context to their environment. Most of our thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, perspectives, and even our personality has been inherited by our family, culture and society. An integral part of empowerment is removing responsibility and misplaced blame of the individual though understanding how we have been programmed and conditioned by our environment and the systems to which we belong. It is imperative that we separate what’s ours from what was given to us.
Most, if not all disease and illness have origins in or is influenced by trauma and emotional suffering. Healing illness and disease must include the whole person and must not treat mind and body as separate. Shifting from a worldview of separateness to one of interconnectedness is often an important part of healing and feeling a sense of ease in life.
Believing in something greater than ourselves and creating time and space for this connection is frequently part of the healing journey. This can be but does not necessarily have to be spiritual. It can be as simple as honoring and cultivating a connection to nature or finding time for stillness. Each person must decide what feels true for them. Your truth will be honored and respected in session.
You are not a passive observer of the world. Your beliefs, feelings, and thoughts effect how the world interacts with you.
You are a born creator and are more powerful than you can imagine. The power to heal and create an inspired life is within you.
